Members of Porthleven Branch have been involved in a number of fund raising activities over the years.

They have taken part in the Beaujolais Run, A Glen Morangie whisky run and a Thorntons chocolate Easter Egg run. All the items were raffled for fund raising. The very large Thornton’s Easter egg produced the best outcome when it was won by Peter Trueman who was then branch secretary. Peter worked with the children from Chernnobyl. Some of the children were visiting Cornwall. Peter distributed the chocolate between them much to their delight.

There have been other odd moments but the main fund raising still comes from Lifeboat Day itself.  The committee and their helpers work hard to ensure that everyone can join in the fun helping to support the lifeboats around our coastline.

Parts of Cornwall are located in an area where the Atlantic Ocean becomes the Celtic Sea. This sea stretches along Cornwall’s North coast before becoming the Bristol Channel and the Irish Sea. With other parts of Cornwall located in the English Channel, it is not surprising Cornwall has more coastline than any other county and therefore has more lifeboat stations needing your support.
